A teleprompter for Zoom and video calls
Run Zoom on your computer and Prompter on an iPhone beside the webcam. Read your pitch, notes or presentation with the words close to the lens.

On a call, everyone can tell when you are reading off a second monitor: the eyes slide to the side and stay there. A phone standing right next to the webcam keeps the words within a couple of degrees of the lens, so you read your notes and hold eye contact at the same time.
It works alongside Zoom, Teams, Meet or any other call — the app runs on your phone, independent of whatever is on your computer screen.
Where to put the phone
Stand the phone directly beside — or just below — your webcam, at the same height. The nearer the script sits to the lens, the smaller the eye movement, and on a close-up call even a small sideways glance is visible.
A short stand or a stack of books is enough. You are not recording on the phone here; it is purely the prompter, so it can sit wherever the words end up closest to the camera.
Rehearse mode is the call setup
Use Rehearse mode: the script scrolls with the phone’s own camera off, so it is just a teleprompter next to your webcam. Nothing is recorded on the phone. Set a slow, steady scroll — a call is a conversation, not a monologue — and change speed on the fly if the other side interrupts.
Keep the script to the parts that must be exact. Reading a whole call word for word sounds flat; reading the value proposition, the numbers and the close cleanly is what a prompter is for.
| Call type | Scroll speed | Font size |
|---|---|---|
| Sales call / pitch | 0.8× – 1.1× | 44 – 64 pt |
| Webinar / presenting | 0.9× – 1.2× | 56 – 80 pt |
| Product demo | 0.9× – 1.1× | 48 – 64 pt |
| Interview answers | 0.7× – 1.0× | 44 – 60 pt |
Webinars and recorded sessions
For a webinar, the phone lets you hit the exact wording on the slides that matter — the definition, the offer, the legal line — without a paper script rustling into the mic. Because you can adjust speed mid-session, you can slow down for the dense slide and speed back up for the easy stretch.
If you are recording the session as well, the same settings apply; just make sure the reading band stays as close to the webcam as the setup allows.
Do one full-speed run in Rehearse mode before you go live. It tells you the true runtime of the scripted parts, so a 40-minute webinar does not quietly become 55.
Questions
Does it work with Zoom, Teams and Google Meet?
Yes. The app runs on your phone as a standalone teleprompter, independent of the call software on your computer. Stand it beside your webcam and read while the call runs on your screen as usual.
Can I display a script over Zoom on the same iPhone?
This setup uses two devices: the call runs on your computer, and Prompter displays the script on your iPhone beside the webcam. Prompter does not place a text overlay inside Zoom, Teams or Google Meet.
Will people on the call see the teleprompter?
The script stays on your separate phone and is not part of your computer’s screen share. Keep the phone outside the webcam’s frame and check for reflections before the call.
Do I have to record anything?
No. Use Rehearse mode and the phone acts purely as a teleprompter with its own camera off — nothing is recorded or saved on the phone.
Hold eye contact on every call
Prop the phone by the webcam and read in Rehearse mode.
