Privacy Policy

The teleprompter itself is entirely local. Everything you create in the app is written to your device’s own storage and is never transmitted to us or to anyone else:

• Scripts — the text you type or paste, along with its title, word count and your per-script settings.
• Recordings — video and audio captured while the prompter is running, including takes you have not yet saved or deleted.
• Preferences — scroll speed, font size and typeface, theme, countdown length and camera choice.

There is no account to create, no sign-in, no cloud sync and no server-side copy. We cannot read your scripts or watch your recordings, because we never receive them. The prompter works with the device in airplane mode.

Deleting your content. Delete a script or a recording in the app, or remove the app from your device, and the local data goes with it. Because we hold no copy, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf.

iOS asks for each of these separately, and you can withdraw any of them at any time in Settings → Prompter. The app degrades gracefully without them — with no camera access, for example, the prompter still runs in Rehearse mode.

• Camera — to show the live view the script scrolls over, and to record video. The camera feed is processed on your device and is not streamed anywhere.
• Microphone — to capture your voice in a recording.
• Photos — used only at the moment you choose to save a finished recording to your photo library, or to pick an existing video. We do not read or index your library.

To understand which parts of the app people actually use, and to find crashes and dead ends, we send anonymous usage events to Amplitude. These events describe what happened in the interface, never what your script says. Typical data:

• Which screens are opened and which features are used
• App events such as “recording started”, “script created” or “paywall shown”, and the settings values chosen (for example a scroll speed of 1.4×)
• Device model, OS version, app version and language
• Country or region derived from IP address — not GPS location
• A randomly generated installation identifier, so that repeat sessions from one install can be counted as one user

What is never sent: the content of your scripts, your recordings, any frame of camera footage, any audio, your name, your email address, your contacts or your precise location.

Amplitude acts as our processor and is contractually bound to use this data only to provide analytics to us. Amplitude’s privacy policy: amplitude.com/privacy.

We do not use advertising SDKs, we do not run the App Tracking Transparency tracking prompt, and we do not share data with data brokers or ad networks.

Prompter Pro is an auto-renewable subscription sold through Apple. All payments are handled by Apple. We never see your card number, billing address or Apple Account credentials.

To unlock Pro on your device and to keep it working if you reinstall the app or change phones, we use RevenueCat as our subscription infrastructure. RevenueCat receives:

• An anonymous app user identifier generated on your device — not your name or email
• The App Store receipt for the purchase, and the resulting entitlement status, plan and renewal or expiry date
• Country, platform and app version, for tax and reporting purposes

RevenueCat’s privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy. Apple’s handling of your purchase is governed by Apple’s privacy policy.

Apple also gives us aggregate, non-identifying sales and download statistics in App Store Connect. These cannot be traced back to an individual user.

• Performance of a contract — validating your subscription so that Pro features unlock, and restoring purchases you have already made.
• Legitimate interests — anonymous product analytics and diagnostics, to fix bugs and decide what to build next. We have weighed this against your privacy and limited the data to app-usage events with no content.
• Legal obligation — retaining the transaction records required by tax and accounting law.

• Scripts, recordings and settings — on your device, until you delete them or remove the app. We hold no copy.
• Analytics events— retained in our Amplitude project in line with Amplitude’s retention settings, and used only in aggregate.
• Subscription records — kept for as long as your subscription is active and afterwards for the period required by accounting and tax rules.

Only these processors, and only the data described above:

• Amplitude — anonymous product analytics
• RevenueCat — subscription status and receipt validation
• Apple — payments, subscription management and app distribution

We do not sell personal data, we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we do not build marketing profiles. Under the CCPA/CPRA we have not sold or shared personal information in the preceding twelve months.

We may disclose data if required by law, a court order or a valid legal request — but note that we do not hold your scripts or recordings, so they cannot be produced under any such request.

Amplitude, RevenueCat and Apple may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where data leaves the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent approved mechanism.

Depending on where you live, you have the right to access, correct, delete or port your personal data, to object to processing based on legitimate interests, to restrict processing, and to withdraw consent where processing relies on it.

For your scripts and recordings you do not need us: they are on your device, so you can view, export or delete them at any time from within the app.

For analytics or subscription data, email support@promp.app. We aim to respond within 30 days. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

You can stop analytics collection at any time by deleting the app, and you can limit what Apple shares with developers under Settings → Privacy & Security.

Prompter is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact support@promp.app and we will delete it.

Data your device sends to Amplitude, RevenueCat and Apple travels over TLS. Your scripts and recordings sit inside the app’s private container on your device, protected by iOS file-level encryption and your device passcode. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach occurs that is likely to put your rights at risk, we will notify affected users and the relevant authority as required by law.

promp.app is a static marketing site. It sets no advertising or tracking cookies and embeds no third-party trackers. Our host records standard server logs (IP address, user agent, requested page) for security and reliability, which are kept for a short period and not used to profile visitors.

We may update this policy as the app changes. The “Last updated” date at the top always reflects the current version. Material changes will be announced in the app or on this page before they take effect.
